Chili Seasoning Mix

  • 1/2 cup chili powder
  • 1/4 cup garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup cumin
  • 3 T. minced onion
  • 2 T. oregano
  • 2 T. paprika

Mix all together and store in glass jar. Yield: 2 1/2 cups mix. Use 3-5 T. for a crockpot of chili.

Pumpkin Pie Seasoning

  • 4 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 2 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg

Mix well and store in airtight container. Yield: 7 1/2 teaspoons.

Poultry Seasoning Mix

  • 2 tsp. ground sage
  • 1 1/2 tsp. ground thyme
  • 1 tsp. ground marjoram
  • 3/4 tsp. ground rosemary
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper

Mix well and store in an airtight container.

Homemade Bisquick

  • 5 1/2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 3 T. baking powder
  • 1 cup shortening

Mix all ingredients well until crumbly. Store in an airtight container.

Italian Dressing Seasoning Mix

  • 1 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 T. onion powder
  • 2 T. ground oregano
  • 1 T. dried parsley
  • 1 T. granulated sugar
  • 2 T. salt (adjust to your taste)
  • 1 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 tsp. ground basil
  • 1/4 tsp. ground thyme
  • 1/2 tsp. dried celery flakes

Mix all together and store in an airtight container. To make the dressing: Mix 2 tablespoons of the seasoning mix with 1/4 cup vinegar, 2 tablespoons of water, and 2/3 cup olive oil or canola oil.

Ranch Dressing Mix

  • 1/2 cup buttermilk powder
  • 1 T. dried parsley
  • 1 tsp. dried dill weed
  • 1 tsp. onion powder
  • 1 tsp. dried minced onion
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper

Blend all ingredients until it is a fine powder. Store in an airtight container. To make the dressing: Mix one tablespoon of dressing mix with one cup of mayonnaise and one cup milk.

Onion Soup Mix (copycat Lipton’s)

  • 3/4 cup dried minced onion
  • 4 tsp. onion powder
  • 1/3 cup beef-flavored bouillon powder
  • 1/4 tsp. crushed celery seed
  • 1/4 tsp. sugar

Mix all together and store in an airtight container. To use, add two tablespoons mix to one cup boiling water. Cover and simmer for fifteen minutes.

Condensed Cream of Chicken Soup

  • 1 1/2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 tsp. poultry seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp. onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. parsley
  • Dash of paprika
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 3/4 cup flour

In a saucepan, boil broth, 1/2 cup of the milk, and the seasonings for a couple of minutes. In a bowl, whisk together the remaining one cup of milk and the flour. Add to the boiling mixture and continue whisking briskly until the soup boils and thickens.

Chocolate Syrup

  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. vanilla extract

Mix the cocoa and water in a saucepan. Heat and stir to dissolve the cocoa. Add the sugar and stir to dissolve. Boil for three minutes. Add the salt and the vanilla. Let cool, then pour into a clean, sterilized jar and store covered in the refrigerator.

Pancake Syrup

  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 3 T. molasses
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp. butter extract
  • 1 tsp. maple extract

Bring all of the ingredients to a boil, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely. Turn off heat but leave pan on stovetop until the bubbling stops.

Hot Cocoa Mix

  • 4 (1 quart) envelopes of powdered milk
  • 2 cups Nestle Quik chocolate powder
  • 2/3 cup of powdered Coffee Mate creamer
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 T. cocoa powder

In a large bowl, stir all ingredients. (Powdered sugar and cocoa will need to be sifted for best results.) Store in a large airtight container. To make one cup of hot cocoa: Put 1/3 cup dry mix in a mug and fill with hot water. Stir and serve with whipped cream on top.
