The 100 Verse Challenge

Recently, our congregation was challenged to memorize 100 Bible verses in a year. Everyone was free to memorize verses of their own choosing, but at least two verses were published in the bulletin each week as a guide for those who needed a list. While 100 verses may seem daunting, if just two verses can be memorized in one week, then in a year you will accomplish the goal. Jesus used scripture to combat temptation, and David acknowledged the wisdom of that principle when he said in Psalm 119:11, “Thy word have I have in my heart that I might not sin against Thee.” Whether it is fighting temptation, needing encouragement, teaching someone, giving comfort, etc., having a treasure trove of scripture in your heart is worth more than silver and gold.

The following list is a suggested 100 verses to try to memorize. The Download link contains a printable pdf which includes each scripture written out in full as well as a chapter challenge page for those who like to memorize larger passages all at once.
